2025 Clean Water Act Cross-Program Workshop – Final Agenda and Meeting Materials

The 2025 Clean Water Act Cross-Program Workshop was held on July 23-24 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare in Rosemont, Illinois. The Workshop’s theme was “Addressing Nutrient Pollution Through Clean Water Act Cross-Program Coordination.”  The Workshop brought together 54 state and federal clean water regulators (as well as others that were able to attend virtually), with representatives from 19 different states. Attendees engaged with counterparts from around the country to discuss challenges and successes in coordinating various aspects of Clean Water Act programs in the context of nutrient pollution and management. The six Workshop sessions focused on:

• EPA/Federal Updates and Tools to Support Cross-Program Coordination in Preventing, Assessing, and Addressing Nutrient Pollution
• Managing Nutrients and Preventing Nutrient Pollution Through Numeric and Narrative Water Quality Criteria
• Identifying Challenges and Water Quality Successes in the Development and Implementation of State Nutrient TMDLs
• Approaches to Nutrients Permitting Through Improved Technology Requirements, System Optimization, and Permitting Variances
• State Nutrient Reduction Strategies and Comprehensive Approaches to Nutrient Management
• Integrated Approaches to Managing Non-Point Source Nutrient Pollution Through CWA Programs
