ACWA Limited English Proficiency Policy

Share This:

Established December 2019

Section 1:  Policy

It is the policy of the Association of Clean Water Administrators (ACWA) not to discriminate against any person who is limited English proficient (LEP). In accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, ACWA will take reasonable steps to provide LEP persons meaningful access to its programs and activities. This commitment applies to all the ACWA’s federally funded programs and activities. ACWA will make reasonable efforts to eliminate or reduce barriers to association programs and activities for people who have a limited ability to speak, write, and/or understand the English language. ACWA will take reasonable steps to ensure that persons with LEP have meaningful access and an equal opportunity to participate in services, activities, programs and any other benefits offered. ACWA will make reasonable efforts to notify the public about its LEP policy and how to access language assistance services.

Section 2:  Requesting LEP

LEP individuals should contact either the Executive Director or Deputy Director indicating that they are LEP and have a limited ability speak, write and/or understand the English language.  The Executive Director or Deputy Director will work with the individual to provide reasonable language assistance.
